This is what we have been up to already this year

November 9-10, 2019 -- The Living History Fall Harvest Days -- Photo Op

The Living History Fall Harvest Days at Middleton
 Gardens and Farm in Charleston are on Saturday
and Sunday, November 9-10. Different aspects of
18th and 19th century plantation life will be explored
including domestic skills, African American cultures
and Gullah storytelling.

                                  
Tickets are$29.00 unless you are a member
to the Charleston Artist Guild. The prorated
membership for new members only is $45.00.
This will be good until May 2020and will get you
in to Middleton and Magnolia Gardens as much
as you would like. Renewing members are $55.




We will be going on Saturday from 10 to 4.
We will be leaving from the Food Lion parking lot
at the corner of Hwy. 707 and Hwy 17 So. @ 8am.


November 9-10, 2019 -- Mythical & Medieval Festival -- Photo Op

The Mythical & Medieval Festival is
a Renaissance themed festival to
raise money for Caleb’s Dragonfly

Dreams. Caleb’s Dragonfly Dreams
is a local non-profit in Myrtle Beach,
that provides positive activities to    
children that have been abused,
abandoned, or neglected and reside
in group homes or shelters.                                 

Tickets are $5.00





Our noble charity will provide you with a whimsical realm filled with a
fairy forest, medieval combat, princesses, artisan’s village area, fire
show and so much more.

November 2, 2019 -- Historic Camden War Field Days
This is a Field Trip

For all of you history buffs, we will
be going to the 2019 Historic
Camden War Field Days on Saturday
November 2, 2019. Redcoats and
Patriots face off on the battlefield
using known military tactics at 1:30pm.
Artillery Demos, Period Fashion Show,
Kershaw House tours, Roundtable Discussion, Sutlers Row Shops, Drum and Fife Concerts, Kids Activities and lots more.

Camps open at 10AM and close at 5PM.
The site is located 1.4 miles on
Hwy 521 North from I-20/Exit 98.

We will be leaving from the
Carolina Forest McDonalds on 501 at 8am.

October 18-20, 2019 -- Photo OP
    There is a Balloon Festival coming up in Statesville. The dates are
    October 18- 20.

  October 24, 2019 -- The Hippie Fest  -- Photo Op

     The Hippie Fest will be held at the
     Myrtle Beach Speedway on Sat,
     from 12PM-7PM. Please go on the

     website to buy tickets for this event
    at $10 each. Go a little crazy and dress
    up for this event, maybe a little tie dye,
    bell bottoms, head bands, ponchos, or flower power etc. 
     
Tickets must be reserved in advance on eventbrite       
because of the lack of parking.

September 14 --Shootout

September 14th there will be a shootout at 803 Labs in Myrtle Beach.  They are located at 1614 Executive Avenue which is off of Seaboard st. 
So what's a shootout you ask!! 
It's like a contest only more fun....... Show up with your camera at 10am ready to take pics.  Keith Jacobs one of the owners of 803 Labs will be telling us what to shoot.  We leave for about 2 hours to take pics, then we return at noon and give Keith our chip from the camera.  He puts our pics on a monitor so we can look at them and we pick 2 pics to enter.   He will be giving out Prizes.  803 Labs is a printing lab.   We did this before and it's a lot of fun.  

Lunch is at noon.

August 24, 2019 -- Early Flight Boat Trip
& Art of the Image Photography Exhibit














On our next field trip we will be traveling to Wilmington, NC on Saturday,
August 17, 2019. We will be going on an Early Flight Boat Trip with Wilmington
Water Tours. This is approximately a 2 hr. boat ride down the Cape Fear River,
to learn history of the area and photograph wildlife.

The fee for the boat trip is $20.00 and the tour leaves at 9 am.

After our boat ride we will have lunch at the Pilot House on the waterfront.

Approximately at 1 we will head towards Artworks at 200 Willard Street to attend the
Art of the Image”19” Photography Exhibit. Seventy artists from 14 states across the United States entered the juried competition which was open to all photographers and artists submitting original photography utilizing traditional and non-traditional processes.
Three of our members have works in this juried show.


We will be leaving promptly at 6:30am to drive to Wilmington from the Lowes Foods on Fresh Drive parking lot at 215 International Drive in Myrtle Beach.

Attention: Date change
Our Wilmington fieldtrip date has been changed to August 24th, same time and the same meeting place. Wilmington Water Tours has had an issue with our previous day of the 17th. They will not have enough crew on that date. I know some of you have let me know that the new date wont work, and I'm sorry for that. We still will be leaving promptly at 6:30am from the Lowes Foods parking lot at 215 International Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC. Our boat ride starts at 9am. The Water Tours is checking to get us free parking at the Pilot House where we will be having lunch. Let me know if you will be joining us on this new date. PLEASE CALL 910-338-3134 and make your reservation for August 24th Early Flight Cruise at 9am. Cost is $20.00. I would like to know by Sunday if possible. Sure hope you all can make it, sorry for the ones that can't make the new date.

February 2-3, 2019 -- Photo Op

 


The 4 th Annual Revolutionary War Reenactment at the Grahams Historic Farm in
Lake City, SC. This is a Photo Op not a Field Trip. The address is 843 State Rd S-21-85 Lake City, SC 29560. This is the 4 th annual American Heritage Festival Revolutionary War Reenactment and Colonial Village. Admission is $10.00. Check our club Facebook page for more info.

February 21, 2019 -- Birds of Prey in Awendaw

   We will leave from the Foodlion at the corner of 707 and Hwy
   17 S. at 8:30 AM . This is not a photographers day. The next
   photographers day is February 24, at a price of $65.00.
   You must make your own reservations if you want to go on
   that date. They bring out 15 birds of different species for you
   to photograph.
   Because cost is a factor to most of us we will be going on the regular Tours and
   Flight Demo. The program will include a guided walking tour and a flight
   demonstration and take place at 10:30 and 2:00. If you want to stay for both demos
   we will be eating lunch at the Seewee Resturant. The admission is $18.00 total for this
   regular tour. You must let me know as soon as you decide on this trip.  April Holliday

March 9,2019 -- Skirmish at the Gambles Hotel in Florence



We will be attending the Skirmish at the Gambles Hotel in Florence. It is located at the Columns, the Harwell House at Rankin Plantation.
This Civil War Reenactment depicts an encounter
that occurred on March 5, 1865 when 500 federal
soldiers, under the command of Colonel Reuben
Williams of the 12 th Indiana Infantry marched
into Florence area to destroy the railroad depot.
These federal troops were met by a group of
Confederate soldiers who drove them away with
the help of 400 reinforcements from the area
home guard.

The camps open at 9 AM.
There will be a house tour if interested, camps sites to visit, Sutter tents selling goods, black smiths, food vendors on site but you can go out to get lunch and return.

The battle starts at 2:00 PM.  Note: Bring chairs for the battle!

So we will meet at the Carolina Forest McDonalds on 501 at 8 AM.

March 15,2019 -- Cherry Grove Waterfowl

We will be going to photograph waterfowl and
other birds with Tony Morano in Cherry Grove.
We will meet at the Boulineau’s Grocery store
at 212 Sea Mountain Hwy. at 8:30 AM.
There are 3 spots that we will go to photograph
the birds in that area.

March 27, 2019 -- Magnolia Gardens and the Audubon Swamp

We are planning on going to Magnolia Gardens
and the Audubon Swamp in Charleston.
Basic garden admission is $20, and the swamp
is an extra $8.

If you plan on going more than once it would
behoove you to join the Charleston Artists Guild
for $30. This will get you in to both areas in
Magnolia, Middleton Place and Drayton Hall
until June 1. Go to CAG website if interested in saving money.

We will meet at the FoodLion at 707 and Hwy 17S at 8 AM.

March 29-30, 2019 -- Photo Op

The Prince George Winyah Church Plantation Tour. This is a photo opp, not a field trip. A one day ticket is $45 and both days $80. Friday Tour includes All Saints Church, Arundel Plantation, Barrow House, Chicora Wood Plantation, Exchange Plantation, Prince Frederick Summer Chapel, Rosemont, Arcadia, Black River Mansfield, Springfield, Jane Scott House,
And Henry Cuttino House. Check website for Saturday tour, it will be different homes. Ticket sales will be available February 4 th through March 15 th . Make reservations on line. Some plantations will be grounds only

April 15,2019 -- Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center

We will be going to Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center on
April 15th. We will meet at 1 Yawkey Way S.
Georgetown, SC at 9:30 AM and take a pontoon boat
over to the island.
We will then be taking a bus trip throughout the island
to take pictures and learn the history of the island.
This trip is limited to 10 people only, please get your reservations in soon. If more are interested in going, we can plan another trip. Hope that you all can make at least a few of these trips with us.

May 1, 2019 -- Art Fields

On Wednesday May 1, 2019 we will be traveling to Lake City
to attend Art Fields. ArtFields will award $140,000  in prize
money during the April 26-May 4, 2019 art competition and
festival in Lake City, SC.

Accepted artists are invited to exhibit their work in one of the

historic downtown Lake City venues for nine days.Winners are determined by popular choice and juried panel.

Venues include everything from a former mercantile to an historic barbershop.
The nontraditional setting  makes for an unforgettable experience.

We will leave from the Carolina Forest McDonalds on 501 at 8 AM.

May 17, 2019 -- Riverbanks Zoo

On Friday May 17th we will be traveling to Columbia
to go to the Riverbanks Zoo.

The cost for admission is $19.95 less $2 for seniors
Hope to see a lot of participation.
It will bring the child out in you.

Groups of 15 or more may qualify for discounted rates, procedures, and services

May 24, 25 & 26, 2019 -- Photo Opp
 
The Sumter Iris Festival is May 24 10-6, May 25 10-6, and May 26 10-5.
Parking is free and admission is $5.00.We will probably go on Friday.
It would be great to bring a picnic lunch for all of those participating.

July 2,2019 -- Photo Opp

Our club and Tidelands have been
invited to shoot a fabulous
sunflower field inConway on July 2.
We will be meeting at the
Conway 501 Mc Donald's at 9 am.
Please RSVP if you will be joining us.
Jim and I have contacted the owner
and he has agreed to let us come to
his sunflower field to photograph
these flowers.
It will be a one time shoot. Please
respect his property.
